Fed up with FedEx vans

A number of people have complained about the FedEx vans that are repeatedly being parked at the top of William Price Gardens. As far as we can tell the drivers are going to the Leisure Centre, which doesn't allow goods vehicles over a certain weight to park in its car park.

We complained to FedEx about this. Head office directed us to the Fareham depot (01489 566270), who said that the van belongs to a sub-contractor, so FedEx can't tell him where to park it or where he can go in it. They suggested I ring the police. The police are not interested unless the van is currently causing an obstruction to an actual vehicle (as opposed to a potential obstruction to a vehicle that may come along later). The gap between the van and the opposite curb is 2.6m, which is not quite enough for a lorry to get through without mounting the kerb on the other side (max lorry width is 2.55m, or 2.6 for a refrigerated lorry). An emergency vehicle could just drive straight over the flower bed. So nothing will get done unless a lorry driver arrives at the road, declines to drive over the flower bed and calls the police instead.

In the meantime, if anyone sees vehicles parked with less than 2.6m for vehicles to get between them (mounting the kerb apparently doesn't count) then please a) get a picture and b) let us know.
